The Patient Experience

Your Journey to Balanced Health

Balanced Mind Integrative Care provides personalized, quality, convenient, and accessible psychiatric services and mental health promotion. Your treatment will occur in the comfort of your home or office, using a secure and HIPAA-compliant audiovisual telehealth technology platform. All new patients will receive a comprehensive initial evaluation, after which ongoing measurement-based care will be provided.

Comprehensive Evaluation

(60 Minutes)

A comprehensive evaluation of your mental and emotional health may require one to two visits. During these appointments, we will take an in-depth look at your psychiatric, medical, and lifestyle history in order to identify any imbalances and empower you to take meaningful steps toward reaching your goals. The initial visit takes 60 minutes, and a follow-up evaluation will take 45 minutes.

After your initial evaluation, your provider will

  • Provide measurement-based care and evidenced-based treatment options tailored to your specific needs to address your symptoms to reach your goals.
  • Comprehensive baseline laboratory studies, as well as additional specialized laboratory testing, as recommended. The cost for the specialized tests will be separate from the baseline labs.
  • With your permission, additional records requests from other providers may be necessary.
  • Provide nutritional advice and behavioral lifestyle changes to promote healthier living.
  • Teaching about mental health.

Medication Management

(15-30 Minutes)

A follow-up visit is part of an ongoing process to monitor your progress from the initial evaluation and ensure that the planned therapeutic goals and outcomes are being achieved. The appointment is typically scheduled 2-4 weeks after the initial evaluation.

During this visit:

  •  The provider will review the results of any tests and explain what they mean, and answer any questions or concerns.
  • Discuss your personalized treatment plan, provide you with ongoing education, and focus on your health goals and conditions, using either conventional or integrative approaches.
  • Recommendations of wellness such as exercise, sleep hygiene, nutritional support, medications, or therapy if needed.
  • Continue ongoing measurement-based care to help track your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

Medication Management + Supportive Therapy

(45 Minutes)

At times when emotions are weighing heavily, and you’re facing the difficulties of life, we are here to provide attentive and compassionate listening.

We do not offer individual psychotherapy as a standalone service. However, we provide supportive therapy within medication management sessions for our existing clients if needed. Supportive therapy offers guidance, comfort, and assistance in dealing with emotional difficulties. It provides a safe environment for individuals to express themselves and receive understanding and acceptance. It is important to note that supportive therapy does not replace more intensive therapy but can assist in managing stress, anxiety, grief, and other challenges. If more intensive therapy is required, we can provide referrals to licensed psychologists or therapists who can offer the appropriate level of care.

  • Appointments are available for established patients who need extra time for supportive talk therapy, wellness, and lifestyle suggestions in addition to the standard medication management review session.
  • The session does NOT establish a diagnosis but allows one to express feelings, concerns, or negative thoughts.
  • The session is NOT for medication changes; it is only for established patients who are stabilized on their current medication regimen.
  • Additional therapies are referred to outside resources.

Pharmacogenetic (PGx) Testing

Pharmacogenetic testing looks at genetic variations in your DNA to determine how they may affect your response to medication treatment. It is recommended by your provider only if you do not respond to medications as anticipated or experience an unusually severe side effect.

For more information, visit

  • This testing is optional, and can help you narrow down medication choices and personalized dosing.
  • Your provider will order the test.
  • The mouth swab kits are sent to your home.
  • You mail back specimen to the lab in the prepaid envelope for analysis.
  • Test results are ready in a few days.
  • Your provider will review your results with you during your next scheduled visit.

Telepsychiatry is a form of telehealth that utilizes audiovisual technology to enable patients to access care remotely, from the comfort of their home, rather than attending a physical building. Telepsychiatry can help address issues of distance, time, stigma, or mobility restrictions. Yet, telepsychiatry isn’t suitable for everybody, and there are advantages and disadvantages to consider.
